Technical Leader/Internet team (1994 – present)

·                              Architected Corning’s global internet access system including fault-tolerant, load-balanced firewalls, Internet Domain Name Services, web-access proxy servers, and access security systems

·         Implemented load-balanced, fault-tolerant Internet architecture including firewalls, web servers, and B2B eCommerce systems.

·         Key member of team that established standards and implemented corporate local, regional and wide-area network internationally across diverse systems. Networks included Ethernet, point-to-point, and frame-relay. Protocols included DECnet, LAT, TCP/IP and SNA.

·                                             Functioned as an internal consultant at sites in the U.S. and Europe. Consulted for systems hardware & software requirements analysis, installation, upgrade, configuration, problem resolution, troubleshooting, etc.

·                                             Managed all aspects of Corporate staff OpenVMS systems including upgrades, performance management, and system administration.

·         Rescued division’s failing hardware/software conversion project resulting in the project avoiding cost over-runs and finishing on-time.

·         Provided on-site system management at several sites

·         Responsible for conversion of corporate IBM-based email system to full office automation system supporting several thousand users including top corporate management.

·         Responsible for revamping of diverse backup systems on corporate systems to use common hardware, media, and software resulting in lowered operating costs and much higher system protection.

·                                             Designed, developed, and implemented corporate-wide integration system between IBM-based systems and office systems that allowed user-specified handling of all incoming reports and documents.

·         Responsible for selection, cost-justification, implementation, management, and upgrading of OpenVMS computer system for Optical WaveGuides (OWG) staff group.

·         Managed evolution of system into LAN-based office automation system including integration with PCs

·                                             Provided analysis and support for OWG staff including integration of PCs with time-sharing system

·                                             Designed and managed installation of local-area network in new office building

 

Sr. Systems Analyst  (1/1980 - 2/1983)

·         Implemented and managed shop floor scheduling system

·         Designed, developed, and implemented Test Laboratory data collection system including data base system, integration of IEEE-488 measurement systems, and full report generation.

·                                             Responsible for full system management of computer systems that managed quality control systems and shop floor process control systems.
